The Indiana Special Education Add-On licensure track is only available to educators who hold an unexpired Indiana Professional Educator License. Other state licenses do not qualify for this program. This add-on program is designed to equip licensed educators with the specialized skills and knowledge needed to excel in Special Education. Candidates do not need to be employed or seek employment in Special Education to pursue this license.

To enroll in the program, candidates must complete coursework tailored to Special Education instruction and pass the required Praxis exam. Please note, candidates are not required to retake the Principles of Teaching and Learning exam, allowing them to focus solely on gaining the expertise necessary for Special Education. This program provides a streamlined path for dedicated educators to expand their qualifications and make a significant impact in the lives of students with special needs.
